Today we finished our visit to New York. After a very busy day yesterday, we took it a little slower.
We caught the "correct" ferry to cross the Hudson River then took a short walk to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. It was a very sad memory but as Americans are known for their presentations at museums, this one was extraordinary. It is extremely difficult to describe everything in the museum in this blog, but to give you a little insight into it, there were pieces of the building on display, remains of fire engine and the whole walk through the different stages of that horrific day. To anyone visiting New York, this is a must visit.
On the actual site of the destroyed twin towers are reflection pools. Overlooking these pools, is the replacement building, called the One World Trade Center or the Freedom Tower. It is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.
To think I used to walk through the WTC plaza almost daily to get to and from work and my Apartment which was 2 blocks away!
